| Comments: | God has led me to this page!!! I lost Claire on Sept. 26, 2002. My uterus ruptured on the previous c-section incision. She needed resucitation after an emergency c-section. She died 5 days later. A common theme I have seen on uterine rupture sites: VBAC delivery isn't as safe as the doctors think. My case in particular was the first the hospital where I delivered had seen. I wasn't encouraged either way to have a c-section of VBAC, but wasn't disuaded either. The 1% risk seems low until it involves you and your child. Thanks for the website. I know it will help many make a more "educated" decision on delivery. My faith in the Lord has kept me going, and I know I will see Claire in heaven someday. |

| Comments: | We just recently lost our 6th granddaughter due to placenta previa & uterine rupture. Our daughter was induced because she was overdue (by ony 5-6 days) and the ultrasound calculated the baby's weight to be 10lb 9 oz (which was over by 1 lb & 7 oz). Anyway they tried Cytotec, Cirvadil then Pitocin before labor truly started - then quicker than I can even dare to remember the baby's heart rate dropped causing her M.D. to call in an OB/GYN to do an emergency C-section to take the baby. Aryn Elizabeth was stillborn 10/26/02 - we were very lucky that our daughter survived also! The surgeon found the baby outside of the uterus in a pool of blood and the placenta detached! We are still struggling with our loss, knowing nothing will bring Aryn back, but missing her oh so terribly!! |

| Comments: | I am so so sorry to hear ALL of your heatbreaking stories. After reading them I said a prayer and thanked God for sparing my baby and I. You see I had a Uterine rupture last year with my very first pregnancy, it happened for no reason a week before my due date.
I had pain for 4 hours and was throwing up, no one told me this could happen, I didn't know what was the matter with me. My husband drove me to the hospital, they listened to the babies heart, it was increadibly slow, I was so scared for her. I had an emergency C section and they say I very nearly died from all the blood loss, I also lost an ovary on the left............the baby was floppy and not responding when she came out but thank God she came back to life...........we both lived, but only just. She was in the NICU for a week and they said she might have brain damage, I am from England and living in the USA with only my husband to help me through, people kept phoning me to congratulate me they just didn't understand the magnitude of what was going on. I was totally freaking out. 10 days later she had an MRI scan and she was OK. I can't tell you how lucky I feel, she is a blessing from God and I thank him every day for her. In 1997 I had a healthy baby boy we named him Dalton Wayne Hill.I was finally starting to feel like I could see the sun shine,and appreciate the joy of life.My son is a blessing that I never take lightly.In 2000 I was pregnant with our third child,Lauren Yvonne Hill.On Febuary13,2001 We lost her too.My uterus ruptured while I was in the hospital getting a IV for what they said was the flu.We got there at 8:00 and she was fine on the fetal monitor.At 10:40 something went horribly wrong.I went into DIC and she died. The loss of a child no matter what the circumstances is something you cannot explain with words how you feel.I feel like I get pulled two ways because I have a son here on earth with me,but my heart will be with all three of my children no matter where they are.You are all in my prayers and thoughts.I will always remember Mia.

I also thank you for helping women like me to be aware of the risks and what we could lose. I am the mother of one precious little boy who was born by c-section because he was breech and have been encouraged to try a VBAC. Qoute "There is no reason to believe you can not have a successful vaginal birth since your son was breech" end quote. Well now I have true reasons to consider another c-section. Thank all of you that have shared your loses so that maybe no other woman would have to experience that lose. My heart aches for you and you will be in my thoughts and prayers. If anyone reads this and would like to email me some advice to help me make my decision VBAC or C-section please do so. There are so many pro-VBAC sights out there that no one ever tells you the worst things that can happen. May God bless all of you. Find comfort in knowing that he is holding those precious angels. More women need to know the real risks of VBAC before they decide whether or not to attempt it. You see, I'm a medical malpractice attorney that has seen too many babies and mothers harmed by this practice. The insurance companies have pushed HARD for VBAC, since it's much cheaper for them than c-section. Unfortunately, thousands of families have suffered because of this position. I'm so glad I found your website, I have been doing alot of research lately on uterine rupture due to mine 9/1/02. I had a emergency c-section 12/9/99 due to placenta previa w/ my son and then I had a succesful VBAC on 11/25/00 with my 3rd child and in January 2002 found out we were expecting our 4th child and I had a bad feeling from the beginning something was gonna go terribly wrong and it did. I didn't think I would have to worry about uterine rupture after having a succesful VBAC I was wrong. I had been ill my whole pregnancy and the early morning of September 1, 2002 I woke up in HORRIBLE pain and after about an hour I told my husband to call an ambulance and I went to the hospital and after about 20 mins my Dr. showed up and said I think your uterus ripped and we have to do an emergency c-section. I was 34 week's along in my pregnancy and feared for her but they had to take Alyssa and she weighed 4 lbs 3 ounces and had so major complication's and came home after 13 day's she is now 3 week's old and still doing good almost 5 lbs now and after visiting your site and other's like it I had no idea how at risk her and I were I was never told much about what could happen and told don't worry the chances are slim and you already had a VBAC so everything will be fine and it wasn't. I had a tubal after that I can't handle going threw that again. I'm sorry for your loss but I thank you for this website and I hope everything is going good for you. Thank you Tammy |

born at 32 weeks gestation. When I went to the doctor I was told that I had a yeast infection. Well, that diagnosis almost killed my little girl.
