Comments:I am looking for the name of the railroad that my cousin, Samuel Thomas Johnston, worked for from about 1920 to about 1975 or so. He died in Douglas, COchise County, Arizona. Any information about his marriage, any children, his war record (he worked during the war in Long Beach,CA, on the docks-WWII)and he may have married there. This is one of our missing links in our family genealogy and any information would be most appreciated. TO date, what I have is his death certificate from Cochise County, census records of 1920 and 30 which identify him as a railroad worker and the first name of his wife. I also know the names of his parents, and his birth place (KS) and birth date (1882) to John T and Matilda Johnston.

Comments:I am a first cousin of Clive Garcia Jr. USMC, I was around six years old when he was killed in Vietnam, he told me before he left for his second tour that he would not come back. I cried and remember my parents were upset because he told me this. He had brought me a giant lolly pop from disneyland and had come to say goodbye to me (I remember this vividly). I remember him coming to pick me up and take me cruising and for ice cream when he was in high school and after. Of course all the high school girls liked the "cute" little cousin that was with Jr. and came around to say hi,and I often wonder how many dates he "scored" because of me (I hope a bunch !!!!) Oh how I adored my Big cousin, Jr., We were buddies!!

We were a tight knit family in those days, all the cousins growing up in the same small mining town of Morenci. The cousins were all from my Moms side of the family. My Mom had six brothers and sisters, with four familys the Vigils, Garcias, Rodriguez's and Zepedas all living in Morenci. There were 14 first cousins in the above group, and our familys were very close. We would get together for what seemed like weekly dinners and parties. The women would cook and clean (and gossip!), and the men would drink beer and go outside and talk about work in the mine mostly.

I remember the day my Mom got the phone call about Clive Jr., we had just got back from El Paso Tx. where we buried my Dad's brother, Arturo "Tudi" Rodriguez, who had also been killed in Vietnam (Bronze Star Posthumious). What a sad time, I remember going to my Aunt and Uncles house and the whole family was there. It was terrible, the sadness and shock, I will never forget it, even though I was so young. I will never forget Clive and Tudi, I will see you again some day when I come home to our Father. I Love you Guys!!!!
